While interviewing Margaret Omorovicza, I could immediately tell this cofounder of Omoroviczaspeaks from experience and proven results. For those of us who haven’t been fortunate enough to visit the natural thermal pools in Budapest, Hungary, or one of Omorovicza’s spas, a jar of Thermal Cleansing Balm can be an equally marvelous experience.
More than seven years ago, Margaret de Heinrich de Omorovicza was working as a diplomat for the U.S. Embassy in Hungary. She was traveling around the country, during which time she met her now husband, Stephen, who introduced her to the Hungarian thermal waters. She noticed the change in her skin right away, as these waters are rich with minerals. “These spas aren’t like anything that I had been exposed to as an American,” says Omorovicza.
When you step into a mineral spring, the water temperature and amount of time your skin is exposed to the waters encourage the absorption of minerals during the evaporation process. When minerals penetrate the skin, they can have fabulous antiaging results. However, because minerals are very large compounds, they can be too large to be absorbed into the skin if not experienced in a spa environment. Margaret and Stephen de Heinrich de Omorovicza partnered with a Nobel Prize-winner’s lab to create the technology that would enable the absorption of such healing minerals without having to dive into Budapest thermal waters. The result? Omorovicza.
Margaret and Stephen, along with their development team, continue to create amazing beauty products with advanced technologies, using special ingredients such as Hungarian moor mud, diamonds that penetrate the skin to invigorate cells, and gold, a great anti-inflammatory.
As the brand ambassador, Margaret Omorovicza’s own beauty routine is something to make note of. “I’ve got three children, one of them is 21-months old, and I travel like mad. Plus, I don’t get much sleep. I have my own spa in Budapest, but that’s the first appointment I have to cancel because I just don’t have the time. And when I’m talking to people, I have to look like I’ve had facials but I don’t have the time to get any,” she explains. “I cleanse, I use a toner, a serum, a moisturizer, my BB eye cream, but a lot of our products are designed to be multifunctional. I love the Copper Peel, which takes two minutes and looks like you’ve had a 90-minute facial, or our Gold Hydralifting Mask, which I use in that morning to give me a moisture surge in only ten minutes. Those products are key to my personal regime. I just need those immediate results.” It’s fair to say that plenty of the people on the hunt for the perfect skincare product are in a similar situation.
So how does a woman who hasn’t tried Omorovicza products begin to add them to her beauty routine? Omorovicza points out the importance of sampling. “I would advise people to sample before they buy anything. To me, it’s just about establishing trust and having that long relationship with clients,” she points out. “Skincare beauty is quite personal, and while it can be a very fragile expectation, it should be transformational, as well.” If you haven’t tried the line yet, you might want to start with their moor mud products, full of magnesium and calcium carbonate. “Typically, any products based with mud are going to leave your skin feeling quite tight and dry, but this product, because of the quality of the source, infuses your skin with nutrients. It’s pretty addictive,” explains Omorovicza. You might also want to try Queen of Hungary Mist, which was based on a recipe created long ago for the queen of Hungary. It has a lovely fragrance, and also rebalances the moisture level in the skin.
Like me, you might be dying to visit Omorovicza’s own spas in Budapest – known as the international spa city for obvious reasons – but in the meantime, you might want to run to the Omorovocza counter at your local NM store.
